Fury's Last Airbender Midnight Screening is a BUST

So I thought I would give The Last Airbender a shot. I’ve been predicting the movie would suck unholy balls and be a huge waste of time but I said to myself,” Fury, you have an obligation to the PEOPLE!” So despite a migraine, I pop some pills, get dressed and walk to my local theater that’s only 2 blocks away. It’s not the best theater, in fact it’s a pretty piss poor one but for the great price and location I deal with it.
So I ask the ticket seller guy, “how much for The Last Airbender” and he tells me, "$10.50". “What?” I yell. A regular price ticket for this crappy theater is $7.50. A normal ticket price in this city is minimum $12.50 so in economic times the price for this disgusting theater are pretty appealing. Then I see the problem, I look up and realize the movie is being shown in 3D. Now,understand this, it is the low prices that allow us to forgive the dirty screen, the musty smell, the sticky floors, the poor sound system and the screen quality that looks like a projected boot leg. I’ll be damned if I’m paying $10.50 for THAT.
It’s not the money; it’s the principle of the matter. I’ve had problems with 3D before and one of them was theaters not giving people the OPTION to see it on a regular screen. They force upon us these inflated prices for this technology that rarely does anything to enhance the movie going experience. This will ultimately be the demise of 3D. Smart people know The Last Airbender wasn’t made for 3D and we all know what happens when a studio slaps on 3D to a film that isn’t 3D. I found it absurd that this theater had the nerve to try to push 3D on a lousy dirty screen. I feel bad for the suckers who are falling for this scam.
The few people who don’t know how bad 3D looks in a film not made for 3D soon will. If they don't end up hating 3D forever they certainly will think twice before running out to see a 3D film. What pisses me off the most is not being given the audience the option to see it in a NON 3D setting. Forcing people to pay inflated prices is only going to make more people avoid going to the movies. Then studios will bitch about how movies are making no money and how pirating is to blame and blah blah blah.

Had the movie been in a normal screen with the $7.50 price I would have seen the movie, but telling me that 3D was my only option, screw that. I put my money right back in my wallet. I hope you guys do the same.

  1. The 3D for this film was pointless anyway, definitely see it in 2D if you see it despite the fact that it's awful.
